Out of Print Books

Sadly, a lot of
the older Games Workshop books are very difficult to get a
hold of now but the good news is that Games Workshop
(never ones to miss a golden opportunity) are currently
re-printing a lot of the older titles. In Gotrek &
Felix's case, the early stories from Wolf Riders, Ignorant
Armies and Red Thirst can be found in Trollslayer
along with several brand new tales. And for anyone
interested in reading The Laughter of Dark Gods, Bill's
second story from Ignorant Armies, it can be found in the
GW anthology of the very same name. Click here
for further details.
Anyway, below
are some of the earliest books Bill contributed to. I've
managed to acquire covers from various sources so click
over the thumbnails for a larger (though sometimes, not
that much larger!) view of that particular cover.

Boxtree
Edition 1993
|
There are two versions of
this anthology of short stories edited by
David Pringle, the original Games Workshop
edition published by Games Workshop in 1989
and the Boxtree edition, published
in 1993.
It contains stories from
Bill, Kim Newman (writing as Jack Yeovil),
Brian Craig (Brian Stableford) and a few
others and is probably one of the earliest
appearances of Gotrek & his poet-companion
Felix .

Boxtree
Novel 1995
|
There is only one version of
this Dark Future anthology edited by Dave
Pringle and this was published by Games
Workshop in August 1990. Boxtree,
however, produced a novel based on an expanded
version of the Kim Newman (Jack Yeovil) title
story, Route 666 and it was published
in March 1995. I have included the
picture of that version here for your
information and must thank Carl Riley
for the scan of it and some other Dark Future
stuff aswell - cheers, Carl!

Boxtree
Edition 1995
|
There are two older versions
of this anthology of short stories edited by
David Pringle , the original Games Workshop
edition (with thanks to Paul Capon for
the scan of the cover) published by Games Workshop in 1990
and the Boxtree edition, published
in 1993. In addition to that, the Black
Library have also recently re-released an
expanded version which includes new stories
from some well known authors. More details of
the updated edition can be found in the Anthologies
section.
Bill not only wrote the title story of
this anthology (in collaboration with Bryan
Ansell), he also had a second story,
Devil's Marauders in it aswell. Click here
for a full list of the contents of the
original editions.

If
you have any of the old Games Workshop or Boxtree editions
and access to a scanner, I'd be truly grateful if you
would let me have decent scans of the covers. You would
receive due credit for them, of course, and more
importantly, you would also earn my undying gratitude! :)
At the moment,
I'm mainly interested in decent scans of the ones Bill
contributed to but as it is my intention to set up a
proper archive of all early GW/Boxtree books at some point
in the future, please feel free to send me scans of stuff
by other authors. Even though I can't use them at the
moment, it's a nice piece of history and I think it'd be
great to have them all collected together in one place.
Please
email me on the link below - many thanks!
