News - August 2002

31st August 2002 -
Well, as many of you probably already know, UK Games Day is nearly upon
us and takes place at the NEC, Birmingham on the 29th of September. I
have been told it's now sold out but for those of you who don't have a
ticket, don't despair yet. I happen to have one that I can't use
and rather than letting it go to waste, I decided to hold a little
competition and put it up as a prize.
Be aware though, it's probably only of interest to our
UK members as the prize is ONLY the ticket (and a book, as a little
extra) - travel, accomodation and any other expenses incurred are
definitely NOT included and will be the responsibility of the winner.
Still interested? Then enter here
- all you have to do is answer an easy-peasy question!
The winner will be drawn at random on the 18th of September and notified
shortly thereafter so make sure you supply a proper email address! Good
luck!
22nd August 2002 - Want
a chance to win a Space Wolf t-shirt and an ultra-rare Ragnar Blackmane
foil card from Sabretooth? Well, pick up a copy of Warhammer Monthly #60
and try your luck! More details can be found over on the Black
Library site including a picture of the card in question.
18th August 2002 -
Thanks to all who have kindly expressed concern over Bill's safety given
the flooding situation in Europe and within Prague in particular. By
coincidence, Bill was out of the country at the time, enjoying a week's
vacation in Hungary and missed out on the worst of it. Unfortunately,
his holiday also meant he has been out of contact until now so I've been
unable to offer any concrete reports about him until today.
Anyway, he returned home this afternoon and I am
delighted to report that he is both safe and well and that he too thanks
you all for the well-wishes.
16th August 2002 -
As promised, here's the link to Bill's exclusive new site essay culled
from his Giantslayer notes.
Ladies and gentleman, it gives me great pleasure to
present you with The
Legacy of the Old Ones.

12th August 2002 - Okay,
some of you may have already seen the Geoff Taylor cover of Giantslayer
across on the Black
Library site but I'm pleased to announce that we can also
reveal the brand new Geoff Taylor cover for the upcoming re-release of
Trollslayer aswell! Many thanks must go to Marc Gascoigne, head
honcho at the Black Library, for giving us permission to be the first to
unveil it.
In case you didn't know, Geoff is doing covers for all the old
slayer books and the whole series will be re-released in their stunning
new livery at the same time as Giantslayer. Watch out for them all in
Spring 2003.
10th August 2002 - Bill's
new exclusive essay will be going up onsite shortly. Culled from his
Giantslayer notes, it gives us some insight into a certain ancient
artifact - the Legacy of the Old Ones, in fact! Watch this space for
more details.
7th August 2002 -
For those of interested, The Black Library actually have some pictures
up from Chicago Games Day. Check them out here
- but be warned, they're quite scary!
4th August 2002 -
I know it's been a while since I last updated this section and can only
apologise. There's a fair bit to catch up on though. Last month
saw Bill attend Chicago Games Day and for those of you interested in
learning what he thought, check out this month's Authorised. Also
included are a few more details about Giantslayer and the future of a
certain Space Wolf called Ragnar.
4th August 2002 -
I have now added a Trollslayer
Quiz Page to the site. Test your knowledge of the books
there and see if you'd make a worthy slayer! Be warned though, some of
the questions are exceptionally tough...
3rd August 2002 -
The official GW Chicago Gamesday coverage contains an exclusive
interview with Bill. You can check it out here
3rd August 2002 - When
I perusing the Games Workshop site, I came across a reference to a
special Gotrek & Felix Skirmish
scenario. You can either read it online here
or download it in PDF format from here
