News - January 2003

30th January 2003 - Thanks to Mike Ball across at the Black Library, I can now reveal the cover to the new Daemonslayer in all it's glory! It'll be out in July along with Dragonslayer. Click the cover for a larger picture.

27th January 2003 - The new Ragnar's Claw Quiz is now online. Check it out here!

26th January 2003 - As some of you may have noticed, the site is on a bit of a Go-Slow at the moment and I can only apologise. I've contacted the hosting company and it seems *their* hosting company has a few connectivity problems though they are trying their best to resolve them. Please try and bear with us until then, and if the pages don't load up straight-away, please try again later. It's really very frustrating but there's not a blind thing I can do about it, unfortunately....

20th January 2003 - Okay, I must offer my thanks to my Polish friend, Paweł Zawal once again - this time for the cover of the Polish version of Laughter of Dark Gods. Once again, it is different and unless I'm much mistaken, I think this may be a different edition to the new one released by the Black Library last year. I think I shall have to investigate further...

20th January 2003 - Good news for the Spanish fans of the Gotrek & Felix saga - the sixth installment,  Matavampiros (Vampireslayer) is out now apparently! Many thanks to Luis Arlegui for the update.

17th January 2003 - I just want to say thanks to Paweł Zawal in Poland for sending me the scans of the Polish Daemonslayer and Dragonslayer covers. It's also presented me with a bit of a puzzle since the Daemonslayer one is different to every other version I've seen...and believe me, I've seen a few! Have a look for yourself - it looks like a John Gravato cover to my untrained eye but then I could be wrong. Anyone shed a little light...?

15th January 2003 - The winners have now been drawn for the first two in our corrections competition and I'm delighted to inform you that Kerry Reeve won the Trollslayer comp while Suryan Chandrasegaran was the lucky winner of our Skavenslayer prize. I just want to say thanks very much to all the eagle-eyed readers who entered - it's very much appreciated and I'm only sorry everyone couldn't be a winner!

Anyway, if you weren't a winner this time around, you can always try your luck with the next books - the deadlines are the 1st of April for Daemon/Dragonslayer and the 1st of June for the final two books.

13th January 2003 - Tonight's the night! Corrections for the first two books, Trollslayer & Skavenslayer should be in to comp@trollslayer.net by midnight tonight (GMT) if you want to be in with a chance of winning autographed copies of them! Good luck!

6th January 2003 - This is a reminder to let you know that the first deadline in our Black Library competition is only a week away - the 13th!  If you want to be in with a chance of winning a signed copy of either Trollslayer or Skavenslayer plus a signed Giantslayer, please get your corrections in to me before then. Even if it's only one correction per book- that still qualifies you for entry into the draw so it's worth a bash, surely? All the relevant details can be found in the box above and good luck if you decide to enter!

5th January 2003 - Sadly, due to his other writing commitments, Bill has had to suspend his monthly column for the time being. I had hoped to get it back on track this month but given his rather hectic schedule for the next month or so, it was not to be. Anyway, normal service will be resumed just as soon as possible.

5th January 2003 - Okay, a little birdie has just told me that my gloat about my exclusive Gotrek watch may have been a little premature. It seems that some of you may well be able to get your hands on these very limited editions, as a couple will be given away as competition prizes in the G&F special issue of Inferno! For those who don't know, it's due out on the 28th of April and you can get a preview of the fantastic Greg Staples cover here.

Adrian Smith Gotrek Watch

3rd January 2003 - Well, I got a very nice surprise in the post this morning - the above watch which was a late Christmas pressie from the head of the Black Library himself, Mr Marc Gascoigne! Very nice isn't it? Pity the scan doesn't really do it justice....

Anyway, you want one? Sadly, you can't have one. There were only fifty of them made in total and apparently they were especially designed to be given away as exclusive Black Library gifts. Shame really....

Still, I'm feeling generous so you can all look at mine....just a quick glimpse, mind you and no touching either!

1st January 2003 - We would just like to wish everyone a very Happy New Year - here's hoping it's a good one, folks!
