This is quite simply the best tool for writing a novel I have ever seen.
Today I saw first hand what people refer to as the Network effect. For the two of you unfamiliar with this concept- its the way a system becomes more valuable the more people who use it. The system I refer to here is Microsoft Office.
Yes, it has been a very, very long time since I posted anything. I have been very busy. As most of you know I got married to Radka in September and we have been settling down very happily to married life since.

It’s November. I am 50000+words into the Queen’s Assassin and its snowing outside. This is a test to see whether Ecto is working with the new Wordpress Blog.
I’ve been very busy recently getting ready for the wedding, attending the Worldcon, finishing the Serpent Tower, etc and the blog has kind of fallen by the wayside. I have been working on assorted things as well. And to prove it here is an extract from one of them…

Due to a large increase of comment spam, we’ve upgraded the blog software. As the title suggests, this is just a test to see if it’s all in working order.

Yup, I know I have been offline a long time but I have been very busy which hopefully I will have time to go into soon. We just updated to Movable Type 3.2 and this is a test to see whether it works.

Just finished The Briar King by Greg Keyes and have to say its the best first volume of a high fantasy I have read in a very long time. Dark interesting world, good characters, genuine wit. It has a few flaws but I found it immensely enjoyable. Its a fairly high body count world in the great tradition of GRR Martin’s Song of Ice and Fire. If you have any interest in the genre whatsoever you could do a lot worse than pick this up.
Been a while since I posted I know. I have been going through the rewrite of the Serpent Tower and attending to various business and personal matters. Just wanted to mention that the French version of Trollslayer arrived this morning and it looks good. Also in the box was the new Gotrek and Felix watch in a spiffy metal presentation case. Since I’ve been thinking about buying a new watch for a while now this will save me the trouble. Cheers to the lads at the Black Library.
