Happy New Year!
A belated Happy New Year to you all, and I hope your holidays were good ones. I did not manage to send a column in from South Africa last month mainly because I was too busy having a good time! The weather was beautiful as was the city of Cape Town which not even my total lack of photographic skills can make look anything else.
I would particularly like to thank Ollie, Troy and all the staff at Long Street Backpackers hostel, and Matt and Danny, from New Zealand and Australia respectively with whom I travelled along the coast to Port Elizabeth.
Highlights of the journey were an excellent road trip through the arid Little Karoo, and a visit to the Adoo National Park where I saw a herd of elephants from very close up. If you consider that I don’t have a zoom on my camera, you can see just how close. This was a very intense and thoroughly enjoyable experience.

More Idleness
After the South Africa Trip came Xmas and the New Year. Santa was good to me this year, among other things he brought Soul Caliber 2, so that I can practise my vicarious sword fighting, and Secret Weapons Over Normandy which lets me hone my aerial combat skills in a somewhat alternative version of World War 2. Both games are a lot of fun. What I want to know though was where was my copy of Fire Warrior? Oh well, maybe next Xmas.
What with all the travel and then the feasting, not a lot of work got done through November and
December so more on that as things develop.
Lord of the Rings 3
Right now I am just waiting for the Return of the King to arrive in Czech cinemas. I cant say how much I am looking forward to seeing this. It’s been a long time coming but I feel pretty certain that it will be worth it. One movie I saw and enjoyed was Master and Commander. I would recommend this to anybody who enjoys naval actioners.
Not much else to report so I will sign off for now,
All
the best
Bill
